Strong Arms are used in Semi Automatic Plants of 1000 Birds/Day to 3500 Birds/Day. It is fixed on a wall or on a strong channel which is firmly grouted in the ground. Counter weights equal to that of the basket & of the birds to be put in the basket, are mounted in the Strong Arm. After Halal, 8 to 12 Birds are put in the Strong Arm Basket depending on the size of the basket and the basket is closed from the top. The arm is moved over the Scalding Tank which is filled with water and preheated and the basket is dipped by hand in the tank with up-down movements for 90 secs (Fig 2). Then the arm is moved over to Defeathering equipment and the bottom of the basket is opened to let the birds fall in the Defeathering equipment which is ON & running (Fig. 1).
